A two-vehicle crash sent three people to the hospital and closed Warm Springs Road in both directions near Durango Drive on Monday afternoon, according to Metro Police.

Police were called about 2:40 p.m. to the area of Warm Springs and Gagnier Boulevard, where a sedan and pickup truck collided, Officer Laura Meltzer said.

According to evidence at the scene, police say a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling westbound on Warm Springs when it crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado.

The Malibu driver, a 35-year-old man, suffered critical injuries, which his passenger, a 30-year-old woman had minor injuries. Both are from Texas.

The Silverado driver, a 27-year-old Las Vegas woman, was seriously injured.

All three were taken to University Medical Center, police said.

Metro's fatal unit was called to investigate because of the severity of the injuries.
