Man hospitalized after standoff in North Las Vegas; charges possible

A suicidal man who was in a standoff with North Las Vegas Police today has been taken into custody and could face criminal charges.

Police were called about 10:30 a.m. to the 2600 block of St. George Street, near Civic Center Drive and East Carey Avenue, Officer Aaron Patty said.

Also according to Patty:

The call appeared to stem from a domestic altercation. Police tried to talk to the man, who was apparently armed with a gun. He refused to come out of the house, and no one else was inside, Patty said.

The immediate area was evacuated, and SWAT was called.

The man was taken into police custody just before 4 p.m. and has been taken to the hospital, though he doesn't appear injured.

People are being let back into their homes.
