Metro Police have arrested a man they say committed a string of armed robberies at southeast valley convenience stores.

Manuel Romero, 30, is facing a count of robbery with a deadly weapon and a count of burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon, jail records show.

The latest robbery happened Thursday at a convenience store in the 5600 block of Mountain Vista, near Russell Road, Metro Police said in a news release.

An officer found Romero hiding in a water drainage ditch nearby after the robbery, police said.

Police identified him as a suspect in the crime series, which involved nine robberies, and he is expected to face charges stemming from Metro and Henderson Police investigations, according to the release.

The man in the robberies entered businesses with one or two knives and showed the weapons to the clerk, according to police.

In recent incidents, he was also armed with a stun gun.

He forced the clerk to go behind the counter, give him money, and get on the floor as he fled, according to a Metro news release.

Romero is being held at the Clark County Detention Center on $60,000 bail, jail records show.
