Coroner: Henderson man who crashed into wall died of natural causes

A 50-year-old man who was pronounced dead last month after the minivan he was driving hit a block wall at the intersection of Jay Sarno Way and Frank Sinatra Drive died of natural causes, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Henderson resident Dominic F. Savelio died of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease — a disease causing a plaque buildup in the arteries, according to the Coroner's Office and the National Institutes of Health.

The van was traveling west on Jay Sarno about 8:40 p.m. Dec. 13 when it barreled through a red light and crashed into the wall going 25 to 30 mph, according to Metro Police.

Savelio was pronounced dead at University Medical Center, and investigators suspected he may have suffered a medical episode prior to the crash, police said.
