A fast-moving storm was bringing light rain across the Las Vegas Valley and snow on Mount Charleston this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain is expected to dwindle to a drizzle this evening. About 0.03 inches has been recorded at McCarran International Airport so far, and parts of the southwest and west valley have seen about 0.04 to 0.1 inches of rain, meteorologist Justin Pullin said.

A mix of rain and snow was falling on Mount Charleston, which could see an inch or two of snow by the end of the day, meteorologist Chris Outler said.

Buckskin Basin Park in the northwest valley and Veterans Memorial Fields in the east valley were closed because of the weather, the city of Las Vegas announced via Twitter.

Metro Police were asking drivers to slow down in the rain, Officer Laura Meltzer said. "Give yourself a little extra space and a little extra time to get from Point A to Point B," she said.

The skies are expected to clear up shortly after sunset, and no rain is in the forecast for Wednesday, Outler said.

The high temperature so far today is 51 degrees, and the low tonight should drop to about 44 degrees. The normal high temperature for this time of year is 58 degrees, with a typical low of 40 degrees.
