Passenger at McCarran detained for drug possession

A passenger was detained at McCarran International Airport on Sunday morning after Transportation Security Administration officers found suspected narcotics, according to airport spokeswoman Christine Crews.

American Airlines flight 436, which was bound for Charlotte, N.C., at 9:30 a.m., was held at the gate for police activity, Crews said.

The flight was allowed to leave after a search by Metro Police yielded no further drugs, however, the passenger was arrested for carrying less than a pound of heroin, according to Lt. Jeff Goodwin.

McCarran's website shows that the plane departed on time.
