Jet returns to Las Vegas after report of blown tire

A Southwest Airlines flight taking off from McCarran International Airport returned to Las Vegas after reports of a possible blown tire and tail strike, an airport spokeswoman said.

The Boeing 737 jet landed safely, and officials determined there was no damage to the aircraft, airport spokeswoman Christine Crews said. None of the 181 passengers was injured.

Flight 511, which was headed to St. Louis, took off from Las Vegas about 12:50 p.m., Crews said. The crew reported issues about an hour into the flight and landed about 25 minutes later, she said.
