Moped rider who crashed on Rampart dies from injuries

A moped rider who crashed into a vehicle last week near Rampart Boulevard and Summerlin Parkway has died, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

At about 4:30 a.m. Friday, 43-year-old Christopher Orvosh of Las Vegas, was riding a moped north on Rampart in the left travel lane approaching the eastbound Summerlin Parkway onramp, NHP said. A white Chrysler 300 was southbound on Rampart in the left turn lane.

When the Chrysler entered the intersection on a green light to enter the Summerlin ramp, the moped ran a red traffic signal and struck the Chrysler.

Orvosh was ejected and transported to University Medical Center with critical injuries, NHP said. He was pronounced dead Sunday.

The driver of the Chrysler was not injured and remained on scene.

This marks the 13th fatal crash investigated by NHP in 2016.
