Dust advisory issued after high winds hit the Las Vegas Valley Saturday

Blowing dust floating through valley skies has prompted officials to issue a dust advisory the Las Vegas Valley through tonight, according to the Clark County's Department of Air Quality.

Paired with the gusts exceeding 40 mph, according to the National Weather Service, the dust can aggravate respiratory diseases, especially for individuals around construction sites, officials said.

County officials also recommended older adults and children to stay indoors.

Other recommendations include limiting outdoor exertion, such as exercise, to keep windows closed, to run air conditioners in homes and vehicles, to consider changing air filters, and to drive slowly on unpaved roads.

The weather service cautioned of rough waters for small watercraft, dangerous crosswinds for vehicles and the possibility of unsecured objects flying away.
