Closure of Warm Springs ramp to Beltway to begin

A weekslong closure of the Warm Springs Road ramp to the 215 Beltway will start this weekend.

The on-ramp from Warm Springs Road to westbound 215 will be closed from 9 p.m. Sunday until late May as part of the continuing Airport Connector project construction.

Significant traffic impacts aren’t expected, but drivers are encouraged to use Las Vegas Boulevard, Sunset Road or Windmill Lane to access westbound 215 during the closure, which is expected to last up to six weeks.

“Impacts to motorists should be minimal, and signage will be in place to follow the designated detour route to westbound 215,” Clark County spokesperson Stacey Welling said. “The designated detour route will be to continue west on Warm Springs, right on Las Vegas Boulevard, and left of westbound 215. Using a navigation app on their phone also may help direct them around spots on the roadway that could potentially delay them.”

The westbound 215 on-ramp and the northbound Airport Connector ramp is the same ramp from westbound Warm Springs, but the on-ramp leading to McCarran International Airport isn’t expected to be impacted by the closure.

“Throughout the 40-day closure, the left lane of the ramp will be closed; however, the right lane to the northbound Airport Connector will remain open,” Welling said.

This closure is part of Phase 2 of the Airport Connector project, which includes construction of a new flyover ramp and bridge connecting the southbound Airport Connector to eastbound 215; widening the off-ramp from eastbound 215 to Warm Springs Road and construction of a new bridge for that off-ramp; and the widening of a bridge carrying westbound 215 traffic over the airport connector.

This will be the last major 24-hour closure associated with the airport connector project. Several overnight closures (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) of the ramps from the southbound Airport Connector to eastbound 215, and eastbound 215 to the northbound Airport Connector are expected throughout the next three months to complete the planned improvements.

The entire project is expected to be finished in August.
