Commission picks nominees for open judgeships

CARSON CITY — Six Las Vegas attorneys have been nominated by the Nevada Judicial Selection Commission to replace two retiring Clark County District Court judges.

The commission chose Terrance A. Coffing, 52, Tierra D. Jones, 35, and Esther C. Rodriguez, 51, as candidates to succeed Judge Jessie Walsh in Department 10.

Nominated as possible replacements for Judge Davis Baker in Department 18 were Soonhee Bailey, 46, Mark B. Bailus, 64, and Jay P. Raman, 38.

Gov. Brian Sandoval will make the final selections. The two who are chosen will have to run for election in 2018 to serve the two years remain in the term.

Eight lawyers applied for each of the positions.
