KLAS cameraman arrested at Trump protest on Strip Saturday

A cameraman for Las Vegas CBS’ affiliate KLAS-TV was arrested and faces misdemeanor charges of trespassing and obstructing an officer during what police called a peaceful protest outside the Trump International Hotel on Saturday afternoon.

Metro Police responded to the 2000 block of Fashion Show Drive just after 1:00 p.m and arrested KLAS videographer Nebyou Solomon, a release said. It was the only arrest during the afternoon protest in Las Vegas, part of a nationwide movement across major American cities in which protestors called for President Donald Trump to release his tax returns to the public. About 250 people attended the event on the Strip.

KLAS Vice President and General Manager Lisa Howfield said on the KLAS-TV’s website she did not know why Solomon was arrested. Howfield said Solomon was covering the protest for the station.

Video footage captured by KLAS cameras appeared to show Solomon and two Metro Police officers arguing about the videographer’s right to film from a location near the protest. Solomon argued the area was public property while officers said he did not have access to that area because he was not a member of the public.
