St. Thomas Aquinas QB Jake Allen (14) has the ball deflected by Bishop Gorman’s Adam Plant Jr., (8) halting a critical drive during their game to help in controlling a possible three-time national championship on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016.

The University of Arizona football program continues to populate its roster with Las Vegas-area prospects.

Defensive end Adam Plant Jr., a three-star prospect from Bishop Gorman for the class of 2018, verbally committed today to the Pac-12 school in becoming the latest local to pledge to the Wildcats.

For the class of 2017, four from Las Vegas have joined the Arizona program, including Gorman defensive back Malik Hausman. Two others, Justin Belknap from Coronado and Liberty product Noah Jefferson, are already in the Arizona program.

The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Plant registered 25 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2016 to help Gorman win a third straight national championship.

He also had scholarship offers from USC and Penn State.

He’s the third from Gorman’s 2018 class to give a verbal commitment, joining tight end Brevin Jordan (Miami) and linebacker Palaie Gaoteote (USC).
