A man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death Sunday morning has been a Clark County juvenile probation officer for more than 15 years, county spokesman Erik Pappa said.

Steven Miller, 46, was taken to University Medical Center in stable condition after stabbing his girlfriend several times and then stabbing himself, Metro police said.

The incident happened about 11:45 a.m. in the 2200 block of West Bonanza Road, near Tonopah Drive, police said.

Officers found the couple inside an apartment, police said. They were taken to UMC, where the woman was pronounced dead, police said.

Miller was booked in absentia on a count of murder, police said.
