Unemployment in Las Vegas area falls to 4.8 percent

CARSON CITY — More jobs in construction and the casino-entertainment industry helped lower unemployment in the Las Vegas area to 4.8 percent in March, down from 5.1 percent the previous month.

The state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported that Nevada highest unemployment rate was 6 percent in Nye County and the lowest was 2.5 percent in Eureka County.

In Reno, the jobless rate fell from 4.6 percent in February to 4.2 percent in March.
