A suspect wanted in a Las Vegas slaying was arrested by federal agents as he tried entering the United States from Mexico in Calexico, Calif., according to Metro Police.

Andres Garcia-Leal, 19, was attempting to cross back into the United States April 11 when agents took him in on an outstanding warrant, police said today.

He was extradited back to Las Vegas and booked Tuesday at the Clark County Detention Center on one count each of murder and drug possession, police said.

Officers were called about 8:20 p.m. on April 4 to the 600 block of East Twain Avenue, near Paradise Road, and found 42-year-old Jordan Taitano suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. He died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

A preliminary investigation determined that Garcia-Leal and Taitano had been in a fight hours before the shooting, and that the suspect returned on a bicycle and shot the victim.

Further details on the investigation were not immediately available.
