A house fire in the historic west side caused about $25,000 in damage this morning, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials.
The fire was reported about 11 a.m. at a small house near H Street and Lake Mead Boulevard. Firefighters found smoke billowing from the back of the single-story, wood-frame home, officials said.
The flames were confined to a bedroom, and investigators believe the fire might have been caused by careless smoking, officials said.
Firefighters had the blaze out within a few minutes, officials said.
