An 11-year-old bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries when he collided with a car this morning in the area of Desert Sunrise Road and Vista Run Drive in the west valley, according to Metro Police.

The boy was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, police said this afternoon.

The wreck happened about 8:40 a.m. in a residential neighborhood just northwest of Charleston Boulevard and the 215 Beltway, police said.

The boy was riding a mountain bike east in a marked crosswalk at a T intersection when he collided with a car traveling south, police said.

The 55-year-old woman driving the car was cooperating with investigators and didn’t show signs of impairment, police said.
