Woman attacked, slain in her southwest valley garage

A woman was killed in an apparent attack and struggle inside a garage of a southwest valley apartment complex Thursday night, according to Metro Police.

Officers were dispatched about 7:15 p.m. to the San Tropez Apartments, 8025 Russell Road, near Buffalo Drive, Lt. Peter Kisfalvi said.

Inside a garage, they found the body of a woman in her early 20s next to her car, Lt. Dan McGrath said in a briefing broadcast online.

It wasn’t immediately clear how she died, but detectives have deemed her death a homicide, McGrath said. The woman lived in the complex and is a “completely innocent” victim.

According to a preliminary investigation, the woman had been in the complex’s office about 5:30 p.m., so detectives were trying to piece together a timeline on when she was killed, McGrath said.

A person going to an adjacent garage noticed the woman’s body and called police, he said. The victim’s garage had the door open and police were trying to determine if she may have been followed to that location.

Detectives were planning to go door to door to drum up leads, McGrath said. The woman’s boyfriend and a family member, who she was supposed to meet Thursday night, were cooperating with police.
