Motorcyclist run over by car, killed on U.S. 95

A man was killed on U.S. 95 this morning after he crashed a motorcycle and was run over by a car, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 4:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of U.S. 95 near Centennial Parkway, officials said.

The 21-year-old motorcyclist was riding at a high rate of speed, applied heavy braking, lost control and was ejected from the bike, according to officials.

A passerby stopped to try to assist the man but he was run over by an Audi A4, officials said. The man was pronounced dead and the driver of the Audi remained on the scene and cooperated according to officials.

Officials said a preliminary investigation revealed the motorcycle had been stolen.

All southbound lanes of U.S. 95 were closed for hours while the investigation and cleanup took place, officials said.
