A look at the proposed $1.9 billion domed football stadium for the Oakland Raiders and UNLV football in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is one of 44 cities under consideration to host a possible FIFA World Cup soccer game in 2026.

North America hasn’t been granted the 2026 World Cup, but the United Bid Committee of the United States, Mexico and Canada has already started the process of selecting official host cities in the event they win the bid in June.

The Raiders stadium, expected to be completed by 2020, is one of 49 stadiums in or around the 44 candidate cities that will be considered for inclusion in the bid that will be sent to FIFA by March 16.

The committee plans to include 20 to 25 stadiums in the final bid, and at least 12 locations could ultimately serve as official host cities.

All stadiums are required to have at least 40,000 seats for group stage matches and a capacity of at least 80,000 to be considered for the opening match and World Cup Final. The new Raiders stadium is expected to have a capacity of 65,000.
