Police: Boy, 15, arrested in fatal rollover crash

North Las Vegas Police have arrested a 15-year-old driver they say fled the scene of a single-vehicle crash last month that killed a teenage girl.

The boy, who wasn’t publicly identified because of his age, was arrested Tuesday night and booked at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on one count each of possession of a stolen vehicle and hit-and-run resulting in death, police said today.

Further details about his arrest or how he was identified were not immediately available.

Officers and medics were dispatched about 1 a.m. on July 28 to Cheyenne Avenue and Clayton Street after a white pickup truck veered off the road and overturned, police said.

Brittanie Rochelle Chaniece Brown, 17, and two others were taken to University Medical Center, where Brown later died, police said. The two others suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver and another male fled the scene before first responders arrived, police said. Further details on the other male were not released.
