Three nursing stations debuted at McCarran International Airport this month, which is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month.

Mothers who need to breastfeed their children while traveling through McCarran International Airport now have new areas to nourish their young ones.

Three new nursing stations debuted at the eighth busiest airport in North America this month, which is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month.

The new suites offer mothers a private space to breastfeed while on the go.

“Whether they’re flying for work or leisure, we’re happy to provide breastfeeding moms with a clean and comfortable space of their own,” said Rosemary Vassiliadis, Clark County’s director of aviation.

The stations are on the skybridge connecting the C Concourse with the A and B gates; near the children’s play area in the D Concourse; and near gate E-9 in Terminal 3.

The suites are accessible to anyone and can be locked from the inside with an indicator deadbolt to ensure privacy.

The suites, created by Mamava, are mobile pods with benches, a fold-down table and an electrical outlet for plugging in a breast pump.

The 4-foot-by-8-foot pods are designed for individual use, but can accommodate than one person, including mothers with other children with them. The airport, which paid $25,000 for each pod, is responsible for the cleaning and upkeep.

“We’re thrilled to support breastfeeding mamas traveling through McCarran International Airport,” said Sascha Mayer, co-founder and CEO of Mamava, which has suites in 200 locations throughout the country. “Mamava pods provide flexibility for facilities and easy access for moms to use a breast pump or breastfeed distraction-free.”
