CARSON CITY — A firm in California is being paid $67,125 by the state for its investigation of sexual misconduct charges against Las Vegas Senator Mark Manendo.

The Legislative Counsel Bureau said Thursday the payment goes to Van Dermyden Maddux, an investigations law firm based in Sacramento.

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Ford, D-Las Vegas, disclosed during the 2017 session there were allegations against Manendo.

After the investigation was completed, Manendo tendered his resignation from the Senate. He was a member of the Assembly from 1995 to 2010 and then moved to the Senate in 2011.
