Authorities are searching for a man they say stole two vehicles and tried to steal two ATMs this morning, including one from inside a Walgreens in which he wrapped a chain around it and pulled it with an SUV.

The manhunt led authorities to Primm, where a second stolen vehicle the suspect was believed to be in was recovered this afternoon, Henderson police said about 2:30 p.m.

The drug-store theft was reported about 6 a.m. today at the Walgreens at 401 N. Arroyo Grande Blvd., near Warm Springs Road, Henderson police said.

The ATM was damaged but left at the store, police said. Responding officers briefly surrounded the suspect, who was in a stolen Dodge Journey, as he tried to flee and a short pursuit ensued.

That's when he crashed the SUV into a wall and fled on foot near the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex, police said. Officers surrounded a nearby neighborhood, where the suspect hid in a house before he stole a 2006 gray Toyota Land Cruiser, that vehicle was abandoned in Primm.

Detectives believe the same suspect also tried to steal an ATM early this morning at the InTouch Credit Union, 4299 E. Sunset Rd., police said.

The man, who should be considered armed and dangerous, was described as being a white man about 30 years old who stands 5-feet-10-inches and weighs about 200 pounds, police said. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, a tan hat, light blue jeans and gray and white sneakers, police said.

Metro Police have joined the search, Henderson police said.

Anyone with information in the suspect's whereabouts can contact police at 702-267-4911 or 311. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or crimestoppersofnv.com.
