Las Vegas gets remnants of storm that walloped Northern Nevada

The Las Vegas Valley caught the tail end of a storm this morning that caused massive flooding in Northern Nevada, according to the National Weather Service.

Trace amounts of rain fell across the valley, with as much as a half inch in the Spring Mountains, the weather service said.

The rain came from the same storm that wreaked havoc in Northern Nevada on Sunday, with areas west of Reno getting 12 to 22 inches of rain, the weather service said.

Reno received 2 to 5 inches of rain, but runoff from surrounding mountains caused the Truckee River to flood, prompting hundreds of evacuations.

The rest of today will be dry in Southern Nevada, but wind gusts between 25 and 35 mph are expected throughout the day.
