It may be windy and rainy this week, but some of the biggest Strip resorts are preparing for summer with hiring events to staff their pools and dayclubs.

MGM Resorts International is looking to hire more than 1,000 seasonal employees specifically to work poolside. The company is seeking lifeguards, attendants, cabana hosts, cocktail servers, cooks, food servers, bartenders, receptionists, security officers, massage therapists and other positions.

The MGM career fair will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the Oceanside Ballroom of Mandalay Bay’s South Convention Center. Parking is free for applicants (pick up a voucher at the event); MGM asks candidates to park in the Convention Center parking garage and take the escalators to the Oceanside Ballroom.

The jobs are temporary, but seasonal jobs can translate into permanent positions, company officials noted in a press release. Interviews will be conducted during the event, and some applicants could be hired on the spot.

Caesars Entertainment is also looking for summer pool employees, specifically lifeguards, cabana hosts, pool attendants, receptionists and cashiers. Applicants will be interviewed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14.

Candidates must complete an online application. All open jobs will be listed under the food and beverage category. Applicants will then be sent an invitation with more details.

Caesars is holding separate interviews for food and beverage workers who staff the pools including cocktail servers, bartenders, bar apprentices, bar porters, beverage ambassadors and food runners.

Interviews for those positions at Caesars Palace, Rio, Harrah’s and the Linq will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18. Interviews for the jobs at Bally’s, Paris and Planet Hollywood will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19.

Just like the pool workers, to be considered for an appointment, candidates have to fill out an online application at caesarsjobs.com.

Wynn Resorts will hold a casting call for cocktail servers, server assistants, VIP hosts, bartenders, apprentice bartenders and security for XS, Surrender, Encore Beach Club and Intrigue.

The two-day event is Thursday, Jan. 12, and Friday, Jan. 13, in the Latour Ballroom at Wynn. But once again, they must fill out an online application first. Bartenders and servers must have swimwear for the casting call.

The Venetian and Palazzo will hold a summer pool hiring fair on Jan. 23. Candidates must apply online ahead of time to be invited.

In addition, the company holds a hiring fair every other Wednesday for housekeeping jobs. Filling an online app is the only way to get an invitation.

Not all summer pool jobs are on the Strip. Station Casinos is looking for VIP attendants, VIP bartenders, VIP sprinters, cabana hosts, food servers, bar porters, sprinters, lifeguards and ambassadors to work at the pools at Red Rock Resort, Green Valley Ranch Resort and the Palms.

The Station hiring fair will be at the Rain Nightclub at the Palms from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13. Candidates don’t have to apply online, but it will speed things up if they do, company officials said.
