Detective Chad Parque, a North Las Vegas Police detective, died Jan. 7 after a wrong-way driver crashed into his vehicle while he was on duty.

A donation drive is underway at a north valley Buffalo Wild Wings to benefit the family of a North Las Vegas Police detective killed in a wrong-way crash last week.

Representatives from Southern Nevada law enforcement agencies and the Injured Police Officers Fund organized the event, which is taking place until 7 p.m. at 190 W. Craig Rd., near Commerce Street, according to Metro Police.

“We are devastated by the loss of our brother in law enforcement Chad Parque, and our thoughts are with his family at this time,” Lt. Alan Davidson, president of the IPOF, said in a news release.

Parque, 32, a 10-year police veteran, was on duty Friday afternoon and had just left North Las Vegas Justice Court when he was hit by a car traveling the wrong way on Martin Luther King Boulevard, police said. He died at University Medical Center the following morning.

The woman driving the wrong-way car also was seriously injured, police said. It was not clear why she was on the wrong side of the road.

Parque’s funeral is scheduled for noon Tuesday at Central Christian Church, 1001 New Beginnings Drive, Henderson, police said.
