Police: Driver fleeing traffic stop causes 4-vehicle crash

A driver fleeing a traffic stop caused a four-vehicle crash today in downtown Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

The driver was arrested, and no serious injuries were reported, but westbound Charleston Boulevard at Maryland Parkway was shut down, police said about 2:15 p.m.

An officer tired to stop the driver near Charleston and Las Vegas Boulevard about 12:20 p.m., police said. That’s when the driver fled, heading the wrong way on Bonneville Avenue, police said.

Police tried to spin the vehicle to a stop, but the driver continued to Charleston and Maryland Parkway and hit three vehicles and a light pole, police said.

The driver was being booked at the Clark County Detention Center on unspecified counts, police said.
