Nevada first-time unemployment claims fall in December

CARSON CITY — First-time claims for unemployment benefits in Nevada totaled 13,061 in December, the lowest of any December since 1994.

The number was down 10 percent from December 2015.

The state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported today that claims filed increased from November, when 12,850 claims were filed.

Alessandro Capello, an economist with the department, said the December report reflects improved economic conditions in Nevada.
