215 Beltway closing overnight at airport for construction work

The 215 Beltway will be closed in both directions at the Airport Connector tonight and Tuesday night as construction crews continue building a new flyover ramp.

Westbound 215 will close at 9 p.m., with eastbound lanes shutting down at 11 p.m. on both nights, according to a Clark County news release. The freeway is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

Drivers should avoid that part of the beltway if possible, county officials said. Motorists heading east can exit at Jones, Decatur or Las Vegas Boulevards, and those going west can exit at Eastern Avenue, Windmill Lane or Warm Springs Road, officials said.

Drivers will still be able to take the beltway to McCarran International Airport during the overnight closures, but significant delays should be expected, officials said.

The ramp from the Airport Connector to eastbound 215, however, will be closed, so drivers traveling from the airport to Henderson will have to take an alternate route.

Additionally, the exit from eastbound 215 to Warm Springs will close at 9 p.m. on Sunday and will remain closed until June. Drivers should take the exit at Windmill Lane as a detour.

The closures are due to work on Phase 2 of the Airport Connector Project, which will add new off-ramps and widen existing ones, is expected to be finished by this fall.
