Letter to the Editor:

Trump’s ego is running the show

What is left after one has all the money they need? The answer is power, to further that ego that needs constant reinforcement. Such is the case of Donald Trump and the Cabinet he’s creating. His ego is running the most powerful machine in the world and has all U.S. assets at its disposal. Trump is not a successful businessman, he’s a successful con man. He has caused thousands of people who trusted him and did business with him to lose a lot of money.

As reported in USA Today, people in Trump’s transition team and his Cabinet have donated almost $36 million to install him in the White House, and Trump gave a lot of the donors jobs. How’s that for buying power? We now know how much it costs to buy the U.S. under Trump. Oh, did I forget to mention the free help from Russia? I remember Trump saying his appointments were going to be the most qualified. I guess that meant that being his cronies and donors were all the qualifications needed. The cronies and donors don’t need the paycheck from the government, but they do crave the power it brings. Republicans prefer power over governing. Shameful, but what do you expect from Republicans who know no shame?

Trump is trying to get rid of the media and its coverage of his actions. Instead of news conferences we’ll get tweets and campaign-like settings with no media allowed. The media doesn’t have to cover all Trump’s actions while he continues to insult them. I’m still holding out hope for impeachment before the end of his first year. His business deals and his constant quest for wealth and power will eventually undermine him. The whole Trump Cabinet is drunk on power; just watch their actions. The people who voted for Trump already have been forgotten by him. They’re the latest victims of the con man.
