Moped rider killed in early-morning crash

A man riding a moped was killed early this morning in an accident in the east valley, according to Metro Police.

The crash happened about 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Fremont Street and St. Louis Avenue, police said.

The 48-year-old Las Vegas man was traveling south on Fremont when he ran a red light, struck the side of a Toyota Corolla and flipped the moped, according to police.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the 58-year-old woman driving the Toyota was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.
