Rain expected in Las Vegas starting tonight

An extended winter storm warning has been issued for the Spring Mountains as three storms are bearing down on the Las Vegas Valley, according to National Weather Service of Southern Nevada.

The first and weakest of the storms is expected to hit the valley between 9-10 p.m. tonight and will bring snow to the mountains and between 0.1 and 0.2 inches of rain to the valley. The storm will last through tonight and into Thursday morning and afternoon, according to the weather service.

The second storm should hit Friday night and could bring as much as half an inch of rain to Las Vegas, the weather service said. The winter storm warning runs through both storms and ends 10 a.m. Saturday.

While projections aren’t as clear as the first two, the weather service expects the third storm, which should hit Sunday afternoon, to be even stronger.

Throughout the three storms the Spring Mountains are expected to get 10-18 inches of snow above 8,000 feet according to the weather service. Snow could reach as low as 4,500 feet though, the service said.

State Route 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump could get snow accumulation, making for dangerous road conditions, according to the weather service.
