A task force arrested a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of two people Wednesday that may have stemmed from an argument over drugs, according to Metro Police.

Durwin Allen, 31, was taken into custody Monday near Rainbow Boulevard and Smoke Ranch Road, police said today. Additional details on his arrest were not immediately available.

A second suspect remains at large and hasn’t been identified, police said.

Officers were dispatched shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday to the 700 block of McWilliams Avenue, near Washington Avenue and H Street, where they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to his hands, police said.

The man, who was taken to University Medical Center, directed investigators to an apartment in the 900 block of Washington, where they found the bodies of Alyssa Nicole Velasco, 27, of Las Vegas, and Myron Manghum, 33, of North Las Vegas, police said.

Allen and the other suspect had been at the apartment with the victims in the hours prior to the shooting but left, police said. Shortly before the shootings, the suspects returned, knocked on the door and were let inside, police said.

Allen was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on two counts of murder and one count each of conspiracy to commit murder, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, attempted murder, battery and drug possession, police said.

He’s scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning, according to jail logs.
