Desert Pines High offensive lineman Poutasi Poutasi verbally committed to Cal on Saturday night during his official recruiting visit.

The commitment ends an active month for the 6-foot-4, 290-pound senior who also visited Auburn and played in the Polynesian Bowl in Hawaii.

His recruiting picked two months ago when he decommitted from Louisville. The offensive guard was offered a scholarship by a wide-range of universities — Central Florida, Auburn and UNR, for instance. And just this weekend, he was offered by Arizona.

Poutasi, a three-year varsity performer at Desert Pines, helped the Jags win the state championship this fall. Rivals.com ranks him as a three-star recruit.

He is one of five from Desert Pines who will sign Wednesday on national signing day with Pac-12 Conference schools.
