A teenager from Southern California died Saturday afternoon while swimming at Lake Mead National Recreation Area, according to park spokeswoman Christie Vanover.
About 12:20 p.m. the park received a report of a possible drowning at Cabinsite Cove on Lake Mohave, park officials said. The teen was swimming out to a person on a raft when the raft started to float away and the swimmer began to panic, officials said.
The teen, who was not wearing a life jacket, went underwater and was later found 45 feet below the surface by Bullhead City Police divers, park officials said.
