A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the east side of the valley this afternoon, as storms moved in from the southeast, according to the National Weather Service.
Wind gusts of up to 65 mph, accompanied by rain and lightning, were expected to linger in the area for two to three hours, officials said. The warning is in effect until 3:30 p.m.
The west side of the valley also has a chance for rain but shouldn’t be hit as hard, officials said.
There is a continuing chance of rain throughout the week, officials said.
