Sandoval urges GOP senators to give up Obamacare repeal effort

CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval has joined with 10 other governors in calling for Senate Republicans to give up their effort to repeal Obamacare.

The governors said lawmakers should work to make health care more affordable by controlling costs and stabilizing the market.

A Republican replacement plan failed to gather the needed GOP support in the Senate, and a repeal-only vote appeared to also lack enough backing.

Sandoval, a Republican and chairman of the National Governors Association, and the other governors said lawmakers from both parties should work together to fix the system. They did not offer any specific recommendations.

The governors joining Sandoval are John Kasich of Ohio, Steve Bullock of Montana, Larry Hogan of Maryland, John Bel Edwards of Louisiana, Bill Walker of Alaska, John Hickenlooper of Colorado, Charles Baker of Massachusetts, Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania, Phil Scott of Vermont and Terry McAuliffe of Virginia.
