No traffic issues are presented on the first morning of the Big Squeeze lane closures related to Project Neon, a nearly $1 billion, 3.7-mile-long widening of Interstate 15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

The latest closure of U.S. 95 for the installation of high-tech traffic management signs near downtown will be Wednesday night.

North and southbound U.S. 95 between Casino Center and Las Vegas boulevards will shut down from 11 p.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. Thursday, to install Active Traffic Management signs as part of Project Neon.

Additionally, the Las Vegas Boulevard on-ramp to northbound U.S. 95 will also be closed from 8 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday. Las Vegas Boulevard will also be closed to traffic between Bonanza Road and Stewart Avenue during the same time frame.

The signs will post full-color dynamic messages with real-time information regarding detours, accidents and traffic restrictions. The signs will also display travel times to upcoming destinations and alert motorists to upcoming closures and lane blockages that occur along with accidents or construction.

Digital speed-limit signs, which can be adjusted in real time to reduce speed if an accident or incident occurs in the area, will also go up near most of the ATM signs,

Project Neon is a $1 billion, 3.7-mile-long widening of Interstate 15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue. A total of 52 ATM signs will be erected along U.S. 95 and Interstate 15.
