A man accused of fatally shooting two people inside a rental car last month and critically wounding a third with a bullet to the head had his arraignment delayed until Friday after telling a judge he couldn’t afford an attorney.

After the shootings, the suspect, Delon Holston, 29, sent a message to a friend of one of the victims from that person’s phone saying, “I got killed, he dead babe,” according to Metro Police. He also called the friend to explain his actions before fleeing, police said.

Holston was later arrested in the deaths of Tory Barnett, 31, and Jason Harvey, 36, both of Las Vegas. Police allege he pumped at least five bullets into their heads in an attempted robbery from the back of the rental car near Pennwood Avenue and Arville Street.

The man who survived the shooting suffered a traumatic wound to the head that left bullet and bone fragments that could “result in further complications,” police said.

Officers were dispatched about 3:30 a.m. June 13 to an alley at an apartment complex in the 4100 block of Silver Dollar Avenue, where they found a car that had rolled into a utility pole, police said. The victims were found in the car, police said.

Holston, who was arrested on June 17 in Inglewood, Calif., faces two counts of murder and one count each of attempted murder and robbery, police said.

He is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
