Updated Monday, July 24, 2017 | 2:46 p.m.

A flash flood watch was put into effect through Tuesday morning, and the Las Vegas Valley could see rain this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong thunderstorms with heavy rain hit Lee Canyon on Mount Charleston this morning, and runoff could cause flash flooding in parts of the valley, officials said.

State Routes 156 and 158 were shut down, with reports of flood water and debris covering roadways, according to the Clark County Regional Flood Control District.

The flash flood watch runs through 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Lighter showers, with the possibility of thunder and lightning were expected to hit the valley this afternoon and could last into the evening, officials said. There’s also a slight chance for showers into the night, officials said.
