Court rejects appeal of woman in death of daughter

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Supreme Court on Thursday rejected the appeal of Sherri Love, convicted of the stabbing death of her daughter Arabella in Las Vegas in 2007.

Love, who was sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility in 56 years, asserted her trial attorney was ineffective in presenting her case.

Love said her lawyer should have called a psychiatrist to testify that she was delusional at the time of the killing. The defense called a psychologist and a doctor who specialized in addiction.

The court said Love failed to demonstrate her trial attorney was deficient and denied her petition.
