A brush fire in an uninhabited area of Henderson sent a dark smoke cloud into the sky on Monday evening.

The Henderson Fire Department responded to what spokeswoman Kathleen Richards called a medium-size brush fire, just west of the Boulder Highway at the intersection of Galleria Drive and Westin Ridge Street, at 5:50 p.m.

The fire took over an hour to extinguish as responding crews searched to find a water source, Richards said. Smoke was still visible from the scene as of 6:50 p.m. as the fire continued to burn.

“The fire was basically out in the middle of nowhere so took a little longer (to extinguish),” Richards said.

No injuries or damage to any buildings were reported, Richards said.
