Pedestrian killed while crossing street near UNLV

A 31-year old Las Vegas man was hit by and SUV and killed early today near UNLV, according to Metro Police.

The man was hit about 2:35 a.m. as he was crossing Tropicana Avenue east of Wilbur Street outside of a marked crosswalk, police said. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The man’s name was not released, pending notification of his family.

Neither the 64-year-old woman driving the SUV nor a 38-year-old female passenger were injured, police said. The driver did not show any signs of impairment, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
