Brother shoots brother dead amid fight in northwest valley

Updated Friday, March 17, 2017 | 11:40 p.m.

A fight between two brothers turned fatal when one of them shot and killed the other in a far northwest valley residence Friday afternoon, according to Metro Police.

Officers were called about 3 p.m. to the 10200 block of Yarmouth Sea Court, near Grand Teton Drive and Hualapai Way, police said. The 18-year-old man died at University Medical Center.

An argument between he and his 22-year-old brother turned physical and the 18-year-old was shot once in the chest sometime after grabbing a knife, Lt. Dan McGrath said in a briefing broadcast online. Details on what led to the fight or exact sequence of events weren't immediately available.

The gunman stuck around and hadn't been arrested as of Friday evening, but that may change, McGrath said, as the investigation continues.

Their parents were home at the time of the shooting, police said.
