A man suffered life-threatening injuries and a driver, who was seriously injured, was arrested on suspicion of being impaired after an east valley crash this morning, according to Metro Police.

Nicholas Wojciechowski, 30, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on one count of DUI, jail logs show.

He and his passenger, a 32-year-old man who was in critical condition, were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said. It wasn't immediately clear if Wojciechowski was released from the hospital or was booked in absentia.

Officers and medical crews were called shortly after 7 a.m. to the intersection of Desert Inn Road and Eastern Avenue, police said.

An initial investigation determined that Wojciechowski and his passenger were in a convertible 2000 Chrysler Sebring when they were hit while turning without yielding onto the pathway of a Honda Accord that was westbound on Desert Inn, police said.

The Honda's driver, who suffered minor injuries, was not impaired, police said.
