Man gets 10 years after messaging with cop posing as teen

A Henderson man who engaged in sexually explicit communications and tried to meet with someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada said today.

Kenneth Gordon Wescott, 55, was convicted in November of one count of coercion and enticement of a minor, acting U.S. Attorney Steven Myhre’s office said in a news release.

During two days in late 2013 and early 2014, Wescott shared explicit emails and text messages with an undercover Henderson Police officer he thought was a teenager, officials said. He was arrested the day he thought he was meeting the girl in person, officials said.

The officer had responded to a “provocative ad” on a now-defunct escort service website, officials said.

The case was investigated by Henderson Police and the FBI, officials said.
