Best Bets: Ali at Bellagio, the ACM Tailgate Party, Jimmy Buffett and more for your Las Vegas Weekend

Jimmy Buffett

Jimmy Buffett returns to MGM Grand.

There are several weekends throughout the year when country music owns Las Vegas, but perhaps none bigger than this one. Visit partyforacause.com to track down all the ACM-related events you can handle, but that’s not the only thing going down around town this weekend.

I AM THE GREATEST: MUHAMMAD ALI This new exhibit at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art explores the legacy of the legendary fighter and activist through unseen video footage and photographs, rare personal artifacts and insightful commentary from those closest to the Champ. Opens March 31 and on display through September, tickets at 702-693-7871 or bellagio.com.

ACM TAILGATE PARTY FOR A CAUSE The 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards lands at T-Mobile Arena on April 2, which means the ACM’s annual Party for a Cause events are totally taking over. Here’s one of its most raging parties: 17 acts including rising country stars Chase Bryant, Dillon Scott, Emerson Drive, William Michael Morgan, Love and Theft, Runaway June and more take to two stages at Stoney’s Rockin’ Country at Town Square, with barbecue and beer specials also in the offerings. April 1, tickets at 702-435-2855 or acmtailgate.com.

JIMMY BUFFETT & THE CORAL REEFER BAND Buffett kicked off his current tour with an unannounced, quickly-sold-out show at Belly Up in Solana Beach, near San Diego, and over the course of his hour-and-a-half set referenced the Broadway-bound musical Escape to Margaritaville several times. Expect more of the same, plus loads of laidback hits, when he brings his band back to MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday night. April 1, tickets at 702-531-3826 or axs.com.

RICHARD CHEESE “America’s loudest lounge singer” is still swankifying pop hits, rap classics and rock favorites in his unique style, which you probably noticed when you heard his music in The Lego Batman Movie and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Red Rock Resort’s Rocks Lounge hosts Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine for a Saturday night set. April 1, tickets at 702-797-7777 or livenationcom.

CABRERA CONDUCTS BRAHMS The Las Vegas Master Singers, UNLV Concert Singers & Chamber Chorale and soloists Alisa Jordheim and Will Liverman join forces with Donato Cabrera and the Las Vegas Philharmonic symphony orchestra to deliver a stirring performance at the Smith Center’s Reynolds Hall, including Jennifer Bellor’s 898 Hildegard, Robert Schumann’s Overture, Scherzo and Finale, and Johannes Brahm’s hugely popular German Requiem. April 1, tickets at 702-749-2000 or lvphil.org.
