Fire breaks out at empty building near Strip for 5th time

Fire broke out at a vacant commercial building this morning for the fifth time in less than a year, causing an estimated $120,000 in damage, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Nobody was injured, officials said.

The two-alarm fire was reported about 3 a.m. in the 5200 block of Dean Martin Drive, just west of Interstate 15 and the Las Vegas Strip. The same two-story building has caught fire four other times since August 2016, officials said.

Heavy smoke and flames were coming from the building, officials said. It took about 50 firefighters nearly an hour and 45 minutes to put out the blaze, officials said.

No information was released on the cause of the fire.
